Touring Exhibitions

Art history deserves to be shared. At the Reading Public Museum, we have several exhibitions that can be loaned to other museums across the country. Our Touring Exhibition branding needed a refresh. The new logo is made up of four shapes, reminiscent of paintings hanging in a gallery, and a modern san serif font. There is a sense of movement as the shapes appear to be rolling across the type. The informational packet design utilizes a clean and simple layout that is altered to best represent each individual exhibition. With a soft color palette and unique typography, these informational sheets show the distinct style of our exhibitions.

In Nature’s Studio: Two Centuries of American Landscape Painting

This rich exhibition features the bounty and beauty of the American landscape from the early nineteenth century through the late twentieth century. The selections explore the Hudson River School and the emergence of the first uniquely American artistic movement; Impressionism and Tonalism at the turn of the century; and Modern trends in interpreting the landscape. Along with a multifaceted social media campaign, paint-by-numbers sheets were created to promote the exhibition in a more tactile way.

Katharine Hepburn: Dressed for Stage and Screen

Katharine Hepburn: Dressed for Stage and Screen highlights Hepburn’s personal style as well as some of the most exquisite costumes of her career. The exhibition provides a rich and entertaining look not only at the clothes that helped create indelible characters, but also at the importance of fashion in crafting the image of one of the most memorable performers of the 20th century. The promotional graphics utilize chic typography inspired by beauty magazines of the past and present. Threaded through each design are graphite drawings imitating the style of 1930s fashion illustrations. To further accentuate the elegance of the designs, each illustration is digitally watercolored. By combining traditional and digital media, all elements of this advertising campaign reflect the timelessness of the groundbreaking and phenomenal actress.
